One morning while driving in to work this past week, I was thinking a lot about one of my childhood friends. No particular reason, only a moment of memory and gratitude. We have been friends since sixth grade when we played softball against each other and then with each other. We went to high school together, and have stay connected since then. Our friendship has been about honoring our quest for authenticity in life. We have and continue to listen to one another, to challenge one another, to affirm each other, to empower each other, and to celebrate one another and the lives we live today.
The lifelong adventure of authenticity is one of the best trips we can take in life. Authenticity is about being real in everything you do. Being real means there is no space between your words and deeds. In other words, what you see is who you get. There is an intimate connection between who you are and who you reveal of yourself with others. The inside of you is in sync with the outside of you.
Honor the journey to be yourself, a lifelong process of becoming. Being true to yourself will foster soulful friendships. Your genuine self will take you to places and experiences beyond your wildest dreams. There is truly only one of you on this planet. Your uniqueness is the best gift you can give the world. Keep on growing and giving.
We are all on this quest for authenticity. Respect the pursuit of genuine, bona fide realness, both in yourself and in others.
