Making Impact – Ask Yourself This One Question Throughout Your Day
Making Impact – Ask Yourself This One Question Throughout Your Day
How am I making an impact today?
My summer vacation this year was in Yellowstone National Park, one of my favorite places in the lower 48. I have been to the park three times. Each time, I discover something new and take in a fresh set of wonder. This time was the Grand Prismatic Spring which stands out in beauty, clearly identifiable as a unique geyser in the park. Its color, its exquisiteness, and its stunning contrast against the sky captivate me in amazement and inspiration.
How do we stand out? Not so much for ourselves but for others?
What impact can we make for others?
Can others clearly identify us as people making a difference – just today?
Do Not Doubt The Power of Your Good
Do Not Doubt The Power of Your Good
The power of your good. Sometimes we go through life unaware of how much we make a difference in people’s lives. Or other times, we may question ourselves if we are making a dent at all in making the world a better place. Yet, it is in the small things that can truly make an impact. Many times, tiny acts often go unnoticed. The power of goodness is strong no matter the size of the action.
Listening. Assistance. Opportunity. Challenge.
Some experiences I have recently encountered:
- Taking time to listen and to experience a soulful conversation with a friend – leaving the encounter feeling energized and inspired
- Stopping to help someone with directions to find their way back home
- Giving an employee a chance to learn and grow, and the employee responds by thriving with excellence
- Challenging authority in a constructive manner resulting in a positive change for the empowerment of children
Soulfulness. Kindness. Transformation. Persistence.
What are some examples of the power of your goodness?
Let these experiences remind you to trust the work of your good is making difference whether you see it or not. Do not doubt. Period.
A note about the photo – This butterfly hung out one afternoon this summer at our camp site. The butterfly is a significant reminder of my brother’s encouraging presence. My brother, Tom, died of cancer four years ago. I seem to encounter butterflies when I most need the encouragement, whether I am mindful or not of this inner need.
Be Yourself – Color the World with Goodness by Your Authenticity
Be Yourself – Color the World with Goodness by Your Authenticity
Be yourself.
I stepped out of the car in the parking lot one afternoon to race to another meeting when the beauty and uniqueness of this pile of leaves stopped me in my tracks and caused me to snap a quick photo with my phone. It was only later in the evening that I took a moment to look at the picture, and the same pile of leaves caused me to pause and ponder its elegance.
The leaves, especially the one, red maple leaf, remind me of the importance of being yourself and living from a place of authenticity. Living in the truth of who you are is one of our greatest strengths and gifts we give to the world. May the genuine spirit within you drive your actions toward goodness.
How do you stand out in your own authenticity?
How do you color the world with goodness?
Be yourself.
