In what ways do you see beauty with your eyes closed?
I was inspired to reflect on this question when I recently read a poem in one of the newsletters to which I subscribe:
Take in small pleasures.
Next, carefully shut your eyes.
See it, the beauty?
Andy Smallman
Amid the frenetic pace of the holiday season, how do you absorb the gift of the small pleasures of life? In what ways do you take notice? What do you see?
See Beauty
With your eyes closed, let your soul see the heart of the matter – the extraordinary artistry in ordinary simplicity.
Being able to notice beauty in the small details is a big deal. How do you nurture this mindful attention?
In this practice of paying attention, some call it awareness. Others call it soulfulness. I agree with all of the ways this attentiveness is named. I would also call it prayer.
Prayer is being mindful with intention, taking notice with the heart from a deeper place, without the need to physically see with your eyes — a prayerful gift of the day.
Your Turn
Where have you seen wonder today with your eyes closed?
