Showing up and paying attention – what does this mean for you? How do you live this during your day?
Each day while I drive to work, I am usually focusing on the details of the coming day. I am thinking about what I need to do, what are my most important tasks, and the outcomes I need to drive. My mindset focuses on bringing my best self to the day.
Showing Up
Also on the way to work, I stop by the small lake on the way out of the neighborhood. I pause long enough to take a photo, to take a deep breath, and to center for a moment on the deeper meaning of life. What do I need to notice in the small things? In the creative musings? The quiet moments? In the rhythmic pauses throughout the swirl of activity in the day?
Paying Attention
The pause by the lake has become a ritual of gratitude and prayer, reminding me to be mindful throughout the day of the essential matters of the heart.
- Show up
- Pay attention
- Jump wholeheartedly into the waters of life
Who or what reminds you to show up wholeheartedly? How do you pay attention to the essential?
Be mindful of how you show up and pay attention. Seek to live both halves this day.
