What are the ways you engage in the fullness of life?
One of my favorite restaurants is Purple Café in Woodinville, WA. Not only is the food exceptional, the wine selections are also some of the best quality in Washington State. One night during dinner, I noticed some wine tasting tips on the chalkboard near the bar of the restaurant. The suggestions caught my attention on how wine tasting fully engages the senses.
Six Wine-tasting Tips
- SEE – color and clarity?
- SMELL – first impression
- SWIRL – aerate
- SMELL AGAIN – anything new?
- SIP – pay attention to your palate
- SAVOR – enjoy while you learn!
Engage in the Fullness of Life Through The Senses
The recommendations are also relevant for engaging in the fullness of life through our senses. When you find yourself mentally stuck or in need of re-centering your being, these suggestions will help you connect with your experience in the present moment, living with intention and purpose.
For Your Reflection
Maybe even partake of your favorite beverage while you spend time reflecting on the following:
- SEE – What do you notice about your life experience? Your surroundings? What is stirring internally?
- SMELL – Inhale the fragrance of life before you. Breathe deeply of your aliveness.
- SWIRL – Engage with the chaos of life spinning within you and around you.
- SMELL AGAIN – Notice if there is anything new that deepens your mindfulness.
- SIP – Taste the fullness of life you are experiencing right now. What draws your attention to more in-depth insights?
- SAVOR – Relish the experience of being fully alive. Enjoy the process of lifelong learning and personal growth.
Learning Process
Allow your senses, all of them, to help you participate organically and innately with life. Also, enjoy the learning process along the way. Life is an incredible adventure. Be mindful of the journey.
Our internal drive to live wholeheartedly with purpose will help propel us to a deeper meaning in life.
