How do you balance the now and the not yet?
The commitment to self-improvement involves a forward plan into the future. The balance is to also be in the present moment. Think and plan for how you want to improve in life and also be grounded in the here and now.
Consider the future and the present as both sides of the same hand. A both/and relationship. How do you balance the two? What helps you keep both in perspective?
I often have to keep reminding myself over and over again to be in the present moment as much as possible. I sometimes move too quickly toward the future.
Remember to pay attention to what is happening before you in real time even as you prepare and look forward to a vision of who you will become. A delicate balance indeed.
The Day is Calling
Do not rush the present moment or be in a hurry to get to the next experience in life. Today has enough wonder to encounter. The present moment is all we have. We only have the life that is in front of us at this moment. Breathe in deeply of the present; this time will never happen again. It will come and go like the blink of an eye. Be here now.
There are times in the here and now when you will be thinking about the future, looking ahead to something more. There comes a time for planning and dreaming. Who do you want to be? What do you hope to achieve? How do you want to live? Toward what are you seeking? In what ways are you becoming your best self? How does that look? How does that feel?
Meanwhile, the day is calling you to pay attention. Be intentional as much as you can. What does the here and now look like and feel like for you? What are you still seeking?
Both the present and the dream of the future are a part of you. The possibilities unfold before you. Both the now and the not yet are feasible. Both are part of your reality.
How do you live in the balance?
