Where do you seek courage to find stillness throughout your day?
Stillness is one of the essential ingredients in the recipe for a healthy spirituality. It takes courage to be intentional about silence in our culture today. Seeking stillness is sometimes like swimming upstream against the current of constant noise and infinite distractions.
Courage
Courage is the quality of mind or spirit that enables a person to face difficulty or danger without fear. (from Dictionary.com). The quality of mind or soul is the mindset to move towards the challenge you are facing without fear, or without anxiety getting in the way. We are still afraid when we are courageous.
Courage is about taking steps forward in life even though you may be frightened. There is a deep-seated strength that pushes us through the fear. The search for stillness is about bravery; bravery is to do something that may not seem like the norm. For most of us, silence is not the norm.
Courage to Find Stillness
Does it take courage to seek stillness? Silence, solitude, or stillness do not appear to be dangerous or painful. Maybe they are.
If we truly place ourselves within the circle of quiet to listen intently to the pulse of our hearts, the experience may lead to transformation within us. We become different or act authentically, and that can be disruptive to anything that is not genuine.
