We have so many ticks on the clock of life. How will you love today?
The Clock of Life
The ticking clock mindset is not meant to be an internal pressure that screams, “Hurry up and live because we will all die soon.” Instead, consider this mindset as a soft inner voice that reminds you, “Be intentional about how you live and love with the time you have.”
Be clear about how you will live this day. In that intentional living, choose love – unconditional, unlimited, generous love. We are all capable of this daily act of generosity.
Choose to Love
I recently watched the movie, Elizabeth, The Golden Age. There is one scene where Sir Walter Raleigh is speaking to Queen Elizabeth I, and this line spoke to me:
We mortals have many weaknesses: we feel too much, hurt too much, all too soon we die, but we do have the chance to love.
– Sir Walter Raleigh, Elizabeth The Golden Age
Possibility
We have the opportunity this day, this moment, to love. We have the chance to reach out and love those we call family, to love ourselves more deeply, to embrace our loved ones with deeper appreciation, and to reach out to strangers with compassionate generosity. It is our choice alone to love, to be intentional about how we will live this day.
Take Action No Matter How Small
Choosing to love begins in the details, in the trenches of life, in what may appear to be insignificant. Choosing to care for ourselves and others is no small matter. Every act of love and generosity is a big deal. Do not dismiss the choice to love in the tiny ways of daily living.
We only have so many ticks on the clock of life. Life keeps moving forward with or without us.
How will you spend this moment?
In what ways will you choose to love? How will you synchronize your heart to the beat of life, and spend your precious ticking time in the possibility of love in action?
