What is your balance of self-love over self-critic? How do you nurture self-love? What are you discovering about yourself in the process?
Self-Love over Self-Critic
Nurturing self-love is a lifetime practice. It is not a naval-gazing activity, but an intentional act of compassionate love toward the self that brings out the best qualities, nurtures our inner strengths, and infuses the soul with courage, spunk, and grit.
I have learned over time to listen to the inner voice that is positive, nurturing, and self-loving. I have grown to lean in with close attention to the inner voices of courage, confidence, and compassion.
Seek Understanding
Over time, I have also grown to understand what triggers the negative inner critic that can filet the soul into pieces of self-deprecation. I have learned to turn down the volume of the inner critic and have worked to stop its defeating forces when they soon arrive.
Years ago, I used to have bad days, weeks, or months of beating myself up internally over the small and big stuff. I still experience the inner critic. Now, the experiences are moments and with a faster recovery instead of longer periods of time.
Lessons Learned in Self-Love
I have experienced a lot of growth over the years in taming my inner self-critic. Through consistence practice, I learned to listen to the positive inner voices of self-love. I still have a lot of growing to do in this area. What I have learned over the years is this, that self-love is:
- Essential for expanding personal growth and making forward leaps in self-improvement
- A necessary ingredient for living your best self
- Being relaxed in our core with nurturing self-acceptance
- Being more generous in our understanding and compassion toward others
- Breathing deeply of gratitude, joy, and appreciation
- Empowering.
You are OK
Give voice to loving yourself. Accept that you are OK no matter where you are in your journey of life. No matter what happens to us, we have a choice in how we respond to the situation and how we love ourselves through the experience.
Self-Love is the Stronger Value
Self-love over self-critic. Love is the stronger value to embrace, especially of one’s self and being. Let us choose love over critique, love over despair, love over negativity – all within ourselves.
Keep it real with the positive self-talk. Self-love is nurturing, fostering growth in authenticity, expanding a heart of generosity and good.
