Pay attention to living life right now. – Denise Pyles
We are in the first week of the new year, and one of my New Year’s goals is to be more attentive and mindful to the present moment. Yes, some of my other goals for 2018 involve a forward plan for the next few years ahead of me and beyond. For now, there is an inner nudge to keep paying attention to the present moment right now in life.
A couple of years ago, I was talking with my Mom about some of my plans for retirement along with my savings goals. My Mom is a great listener and offers advice or shares her wisdom from a place of openness and freedom. You can take or leave her advice without any judgment. What I remember from our conversation was the advice she gave me about financial savings. She said, “don’t save it all for the end; remember to spend a little of it along the way.” It was her way of saying, “be sure to live life as fully as possible right now. Don’t wait until retirement to enjoy life. Life is a wonderful adventure in the present moment.” Hers are great words of wisdom. My Mom is currently 91 and still acting upon her own words of advice, living this amazing life adventure in the present moment.
Pay attention to living life right now. This mantra is my desire for a sharper focus in 2018. Yes, I will keep saving and planning for the future. In the meantime, I continue to seek balance in the present moment. Now is all we have. There are no further guarantees.
Keep paying attention and fully live life along the way.
